WE ARE

Our Story


Rare-Zolution Design & Craft is an arts and craft business registered in 2005. We are Level 1 BBBEE accredited and compliant. We are driven by noble objectives of contributing to the Green Revolution.

After the company founder Mavis Taole completed her MAPPSETA training programmes to enhance her crafting and entrepreneurial skills, she decided to formalize her craft business to implement all the skills acquired. Her training includes an Export Orientation Programme and International Navigator Leadership Programme, with experience as an Educator at the Wits University Origins Centre Museum.

She has also organised arts and craft exhibitions and workshops around the Johannesburg area in partnership with Gauteng Department of Sport, Arts, Culture and Recreation as well as the Department of Trade and Industry.

Mavis Taole has since starting her company had a recognisable impact on the craft industry by co-founding the Green Footprint Initiative with other industry players.

Our vision is to grow into a skills incubator and a preferred craft exporter in
the industry; including being recognized as a significant global arts development player.

Mission

Rare-Zolution’s mission is to be a central player and point of entry between crafters in
various parts of the country and big business in the craft industry. This makes us a
multi-pronged entity which ‘s core focus in promoting the creative industry as well
contributing sector within our South African Economy.

Awards

  • Curated the SA Season Exhibition in Tanzania 2022.
  • Project managed the All About Quilt Project Qwa-Qwa 2021.
  • Nominated for the Township Entrepreneurship Awards 2016 under the Creative Industry category.
  • Nominated for the Young Heritage Activist Awards 2016.
  • Nominated as one the Top Ten Innovative Businesses in Gauteng by the SAB Kickstart programme 2012.
  • Received an accolade from the Ophrah Winfrey School for Girls for skills exchange.
  • We have participated in number of international shows (Germany, Italy and Portugal amongst others) as a brand ambassador for South Africa's Creative Industries.

Partnership

Our partnerships are based on collaborative arrangements between various actors, such as local governments, non-profits, businesses, and residents, to address shared issues and pursue common goals in an effort build sustainable solutions in tackling community development.

Our approach is to build on mutual trust, open communication, and a commitment to continuous improvement. We do this by leveraging our partners’ strengths and resources while engaging businesses and local organisations to create a lasting positive impact to benefit the community as a whole.
